Your Property Taxes May Be Going Down

Good news! The minimum annual income needed to be eligible to receive the Senior Citizen Homeowners' Exemption (SCHE) or Disabled Homeowners' Exemption (DHE) to reduce your NYC property taxes has been raised to $58,399.

If you're applying for the first time for either of these exemptions, you must submit an application by January 16, 2018.

For the SCHE application, go to www.nyc.gov/sche.

For the DHE application, go to www.nyc.gov/dhe.

You may only have one or the other of these exemptions at a time, not both.

If you were previously denied, take no action. Your application will be re-reviewed and, if you're eligible, you will receive the exemption retroactively to July 1, 2017.

If you were already receiving either of these exemptions, you don't need to take any action.
