Tenant Support Services

NHS Brooklyn counsels clients and make referrals with regard to:

  • Applying for affordable housing lotteries using Housing Connect

  • Eviction proceedings

  • Tenant rights

  • Succession rights

  • Preferential rent

  • Legal assistance

  • Resources to address arrears

  • Rent Freeze for People with Disabilities: First application, renewal, appeal

  • Rent Freeze for Seniors: First application, renewal, appeal

  • Referrals to other services and programs

 

To request an appointment. Please call 718-469-4679 or click here to submit a request for an appointment with a counselor. You may be required to submit documents, including those listed below. 

Documents you may be asked to submit:

  • Current Lease Agreement (if available)

  • Income Information:

    • Pay stubs – 4 if paid weekly, 2 if paid every two weeks

    • Social Security Award Letter

    • Pension letter

    • Child support recent payment history

    • Other documents showing sources of income

  • Federal Income Tax Returns for the past 2 years, including all attachments, 1040s, and W2’s

  • Bank Statements: Two most current (all pages, even if blank)

  • Current Utility Bill (Con Ed & National Grid)

  • Identification

  • Legal documents served (If any)
