Canarsie’s First Annual Multi-Cultural Day, held Saturday, June 10, brought perfect weather and many of our neighbors to enjoy the wide range of cultures in Canarsie and get information on local programs.
Residents signed up for the Home Resiliency Audit from FloodHelpNY.org (3:50). The free audit includes an Elevation Certificate and NHS Brooklyn counseling to manage the increasing risks and costs of flood.
There was also a lot of interest in the Haitian Creole/English presentation on coastal issues taking place Thursday, June 15, from 6-8pm at Beraca Baptist Church. NHS Brooklyn specialist Beth Malone will explain the Home Resiliency Audit in detail, the NYC Department of Planning will review the just-released report Resilient Neighborhoods: Canarsie, and NYC Emergency Management will discuss this year’s hurricane season. Homeowners, business owners, and anyone considering purchasing a home are encouraged to attend. For more information, click here.
